Weekend Wrap

The Saskatoon Blades made a statement over the weekend. They bussed into Brandon for games Friday and Saturday and promptly took both ends of a 2-game series. Friday night the Blades were down 2-1 after 2 before coming back to win. Saturday night, Saskatoon thrashed the Wheaties 8-1. The teams return to Saskatoon Tuesday night to finish off their season series.

The Weyburn Red Wings, Melville Millionaires and Flin Flon Bombers all hold 2-0 series leads in the SJHL Conference semi-finals after weekend action. In fact, Melfort will be happy to see Flintaberry Flonatin in it's rear view mirror as the Mustangs didn't turn on the red light a single time in two games against the Bombers. Battlefords upset Humboldt 1-0 last night to tie that series at 1 game a piece.

Are the Dallas Stars interested in the Post season? They've gone ice cold having lost 5 in a row at home and sit 2 points out of a tight western conference playoff spot. Now pest, Steve Ott has been suspended. Yikes!

Did you watch any PGA golf over the weekend? Geoff Ogilvy clinched his sixth PGA Tour title with a commanding 4&3 victory over Britain's Paul Casey in Sunday's final of the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship.

What I enjoyed as much as watching the championship was the scenery. The Dove Mountain course was so invitingly warm as I sat on my couch looking out the window at the mounds of snow on the street. Course designers appeared to have plunked a lush green course right out in the middle of the Arizona, cactus filled desert.

Hey what are friends for?

This weekend my family planned a surprise birthday party for me. It was fantastic to see lots of friends who had come to wish this old guy a good one. I was toasted with song, poems and bumps. Apparently I have weak buddies cuz they weren't able to give me the required number of bumps. You guys need to drink more GW Pil and bulk up. Sissies! You can't beat great family and friends though and I feel blessed to have both!

BTW, don't expect me to post any of those pics anytime soon. They made me out to be an old geezer in some of the photos. I did say they were good friends......right?

Looks like I gotta wrap up the Wrap Up as I gotta head to work. Here's a little morsel to chew on...............

I am really enjoying writing this blog (when I have time anyways). I appreciate all the kind words and will continue to post as time allows. It's just one guy's view on the world revolving around us. I'm trying to post from different perspectives and often it seems that I have a sports perspective. So sue me.

Here's the thing though, if you've got a gripe with a DIFFERENT website and the way it's run, then TAKE IT UP WITH THEM. There's good people running those sites. Why anyone would come here and posts their beefs under the name of "anonymous" is foreign to me. But hey....... it's your beef!
